Objective
Quantity of energy saving obtainable using the SLB system in a high temperature intermittent kiln. The low thermal mass corrosion resistant "Protek" is used as lining material allowing reduced cycles times and then enhanced productivity.
The novel SBL kiln will be compared with a conventional brick-lined kiln using two firing cycles.
The main innovation consists in the use of a new lining material incorporating a special insulating support system which avoids the use of pins and adhesives.
Demonstration of the energy savings, and other operational advantages, achievable with a novel "SBL" system for insulating high temperature kilns.
The system incorporates special low thermal mass corrosion resistant procal insulation.
