DUAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR RURAL AREAS

Objective

Centralized remote management of the heating plants of some 22 office and school buildings in the rural district of Schwandorf.
15% of previous energy consumption (i.e. 228 TOE/year) are expected to be saved.

1. The 22 buildings under management are linked to a central point by means of telephone lines. each building is equipped with a direct digital control (DDC) system whose functions are:
- measuring and recording temperatures, flowrates and energy consumptions
- modifying set points
- running on or off the plants
2. The working of heating plants will by this way be optimized by a central computer. The following features are taken into account:
- meteorological conditions
- schedule of occupancy of buildings
- load control and limitation during the heating up in the morning and at low outside temperatures
- statistics of data collected and of meteorological data.
The project includes 4 phases :
1. installation of DDC systems in the 22 buildings
2. installation of the central control unit
3. testing and starting up
4. monitoring (2 years).
