FLEXIBLE COGENERATIVE HEATING/COOLING PLANT USING A MIXED STEAM TURBINE

Objective

Flexible Cogenerative Heat/Cooling Plant.
(Owing to the different anomalies which have been discovered, the whole installation could not be commissioned.
Consequently the tests and measurements which should have been carried out in the course of 1991 will at best start at the end of 1991 and therefore continue in 1992.)
In order to increase the cooling capacity of the Cogenerative Plant in La Defense, a new centrifugal chiller of 24 MWt driven by a 2-stage mixed steam turbine is proposed. The turbine can be used as a counter pressure turbine supplying power to the chiller and heat to the grid, as injection turbine using steam from the turbo-alternators or as condensing turbine without heat supply. The choice is done according to the variable heat and cooling needs and to the electric tarification (seasonal and daily variation).
Innovation : multi-functional steam turbine, driving the variable speed compressor of a centrifugal chiller.
