Objective
Energy saving by means of mechanical vapour recompression applied to a super heated steam drier used to dry fibrous products such as sugar beet pulp or lucerne. This project is a complementary phase to the project EE/244/84/FR. It concerns the improvement of the reliability of the drier in order to obtain an working rate of 160% (operating time of 2000 hours/sugar campain).
See project nr EE/244/84/FR.
The energetic performances of the dryer using superheated steam have been reached : evaporation capacity 20 t/h of water and spe'cific consumption 190 kWhc/t of water evaporated. Nevertheless, due to the heat exangers getting dirty and problems with the driving systems of the travelling bands, the working rate of the plant is only 40 %.
This situation is the result of the difficulty of technologies to work and materials to resust in the very peculiar atmosphere of superheated steam with small particles.
In order to improve the reliability of the dryer the following tasks are planned :
1- elimination of dirt sources
2- putting in reliability the guiding systems of the traveling bands.
3- putting in reliability the other equipments of the dryer.
4- Improvement of the driving means of the dryer.
