WASTE HEAT RECOVERY FROM POLLUTING FUELS WITH SO3 REMOVAL & PREVENTION OF AEROSOL FORMATION

Objective

To construct and install at an existing power plant a heat recovery heat exchanger system to remove SO3 and to prevent the formation of aerosols. Careful control of temperature condenses SO3 to the heat exchanger tube surfaces. Power plant appr. 85 MWe and 170 MWth, with 4000 hr/y. This type of SO3 removal is innovative, making it possible to use high sulfur (2% - 3%) fuels. The innovation is applicable to all oil and coal fuelled plants.
