Objective
THE STUDY NAMED ABOVE IS DIVIDED INTO 5 PARTS. AFTER RECEIVING THE FIRST PAYMENT IN NOVEMBER 1986, WE STARTED TO WORK ON THE PART "BRIQUETTING OF STRAW FROM CEREALS AND RAPE". THE AIM OF THIS PART OF THE STUDY IS TO MINIMIZE THE DEMAND FOR STORAGE SPACE, TO INCREASE THE ENERGY DENSITY AND TO EASE TRANSPORT AND HANDLING OF THE STRAW TO ENLARGE THE SCOPE TO USERS OF SMALL SOLID FUEL COMBUSTION PLANTS LIKE TILED STOVES OR FIREPLACES.
THIS DEMANDS BRIQUETTS OF GOOD QUALITY. THEREFORE THE SUITABILITY OF DIFFERENT CRUSHERS AND BRIQUETTING SYSTEMS SHOULD BE TESTED WITH STRAW OF DIFFERENT CEREALS AND RAPE AND SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVING THESE SYSTEMS SHOULD BE GIVEN. FIRST FIELD TESTS OF BRIQUETTING RAPE - AND CEREAL STRAW WERE CARRIED OUT WITH CONTINUOUS DRIVE PISTON PRESSES AND A CRUSHER WITH DIFFERENT SIEVES. THE MEASURED DATAS OF THE PROCESS ARE SHOWN IN THE TABLE.
