BERTIN PROCESS FOR THE ACID HYDROLYSIS OF LIGNO-CELLULOSIC WASTES

Objective

THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO PRODUCE SOLUTIONS OF CARBOHYDRATES FROM LIGNO-CELLULOSIC WASTES, CONTINUOUSLY VIA ACID HYDROLYSIS. THE PROJECT WILL CONSIST IN CONSTRUCTING AND EVALUATING A PILOT PLANT PROCESSING 100 TO 200 KG/H OF DRY LIGNO-CELLULOSIC MATERIAL. THE UNIT WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE BERTIN DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN TARNOS (NEAR BAYONNE) AND WILL INCLUDE A CONTINUOUS PERCOLATION REACTOR WITH COUNTER-CURRENT LIQUID-SOLID FLOW PATTERN.
THE EXPECTED RESULTS ARE:
- HYDROLYSIS YIELD : ABOUT 80 % OF THE POTENTIAL SUGARS PRESENT IN THE FEED MATERIAL
- HYDROLYSATE CONCENTRATION :> 70 G/L.
