Objective
IN THE PYROLYSIS PLANTS SOME IMPROVEMENT HAS TO BE MADE CONCERNING THE PERCENT CONTENT OF CHARCOAL IN THE PYROLYTIC OIL IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A BETTER FLUIDITY. IT IS PLANNED TO OBTAIN THIS BY A HOT GAS FILTER. ALSO, THE SEPARATION OF THE PYROLYTIC WATER FROM THE OIL WILL BE IMPROVED BY THE UTILISATION OF A DOUBLE ROTATING FILTER.
THE STORED OIL WILL BE KEPT AT 50 CELSIUS DEGREES BY THE WASTE HEAT OF THE PLANT AND READY FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE MIXTURES ON THE SITE OF THE PLANT. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PRESENT PROPOSAL IS THE PRODUCTION (IN A PYROLYSIS PLANT) OF A STABLE CHARCOAL AND PYROLYTIC OIL SLURRY OR EMULSION. IN THE FRAME OF THE PROPOSED RESEARCH, BURNING TESTS OF THE OBTAINED PRODUCTS WILL BE CARRIED ON AN ESPECIALLY PREPARED TEST RIG.
THE OBJECTIVE IS TO OBTAIN A MIXTURE WITH A VISCOSITY SUITABLE FOR THE GENERAL INDUSTRIAL HEATING APPLICATION; IN PARTICULAR TO OBTAIN ADEQUATE PUMPABILITY CHARACTERISTICS. THE CHARCOAL SLURRIES WILL ALSO CONTAIN PYROLYTIC WATER ADDED WITH TENSIOACTIVE PRODUCTS. THE LABORATORY TESTS WILL VERIFY THE BEHAVIOUR AND EVENTUAL INCOMPATIBILITY BETWEEN THE TENSIOACTIVE ADDITIVES, CHARCOAL, ACID PYROLYTIC WATER AND THE VISCOSITY CHARACTERISTICS OF CHARCOAL AGIANST THE CONCENTRATION OF THE FOLLOWING MIXTURES. CHARCOAL-PYROLYTIC WATER AND CHARCOAL-PYROLYTIC WATER-METHANOL ETC... HIGHER CONCENTRATION WILL BE TESTED TO REACH 45% CHARCOAL AND 55% WATER, VERIFYING THE STABILITY. THE CHARCOAL WILL BE GROUNDED AT 100% < 200 MICROM, 30% < 30 MICROM AND 10% <2.3 MICROM TO HAVE A PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION SIMILAR TO THAT GENERALLY ADOPTED FOR PNEUMATIC TRANSPORTATION AND COMBUSTION OF PULVERIZED COAL.
THE TESTS ON THE BURNING RIG WILL BE CARRIED OUT WITH AT LEAST 1:2 TON OF FUEL FOR EACH TEST.
A PARTICULAR DESIGN OF THE BURNER WILL ALSO BE STUDIED. THE TYPE OF BURNER WITH CONCENTRIC EJECTORS TO BURN CHARCOAL-WATER AND WATER-OIL-ALCOHOL-FUEL WILL ALSO BE CONSIDERED.
IN SUMMARY, THE PROPOSED RESEARCH ACTIVITIES ARE THE FOLLOWING:
- CONSTRUCTION OF A PYROLYTIC PLANT FOR BIOMASS
- IMPROVEMENT OF PYROLYTIC PROCESS
- TREATMENT OF ACID PYROLYTIC WATER
- MIXTURES OF PYROLYTIC PRODUCTS
- LABORATORY TESTS OF MIXTURES OF PYROLYTIC PRODUCTS.
