DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW ROTARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

Objective

DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW ROTARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF LOW VOLUME AND HIGH SPEED.
PHASES OF PROGRAMME : ASSEMBLING THE ENGINE AND INSTALLING IT- REGULATIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS- TESTING (TORQUE - SPEED-CONSUMPTION TEMPERATURES - ANALYSING THE GASES) - EVALUATION.
CHARACTERISTICS : OILFREE COMPRESSION AND EXPANSION - LOW VOLUME - LOW COOLING AND FRICTION LOSSES - LOW COST - SIMPLICITY (FEW MOVING PARTS).

THE PERFORMANCE OF A CONVENTIONAL ENGINE DEPENDS UPON THE FOLLOWING:
A) EFFICIENCY : COOLING LOSSES-FRICTION LOSSES-FLOW LOSSES-COMPRESSION RATIO LAMBDA ALPHA VERSUS EXPANSION RATIO.
B) EMISSIONS : AIR RATIO HIGHER THAN 1,2. CURRENT INDICATIONS FROM RESEARCH ARE THAT SEVERAL EMISSIONS (AND ESPECIALLY NOX) ARE HIGH WHEN THE MIXTURE STRENGTH IS STOICHIOMETRIC (LAMBDA ALPHA=1 OR LAMBDA ALPHA <1) AND THAT WHEN IS TO COMBUST DROPLETS OF FUEL (THE MIXTURE STRENGTH IS STOICHIOMETRIC ADJUCENT TO EACH DROPLET).
FOR THE PROPOSED NEW ROTARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IT CAN BE IMPROVED ALL THE REFERRED FACTORS AS FOLLOWING : 1. THE ROTORS ARE BEING ROTATING IN HIGH SPEED IN OIL FREE CONDITION (NO FRICTION AND WEAR). THE OIL FREE BEHAVIOR IS BEING EXPLAINED IN THE VID PUBLICATION BEING ANNEXED TO OUR APPLICATION.
2. DUE TO THE VERY LOW SPECIFIC VOLUME OF THE ENGINE THE COOLING LOSSES OF THIS ROTARY ENGINE ARE VERY REDUCED (SEE ALSO ANNEXED EE PUBLICATION FOR THIS INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE).
3. THE FLOW LOSSES THROUGH THE VALVES ARE VERY LOW DUE TO THE SPECIFIC TYPE OF VALVES USED (THE SPECIFIC GRAVITY OF THE FLOWING GAS IS HIGH WHILE TO CROSS SECTION ON THE PATH IS COMPARATIVELY WIDE).
4. THE EXPANSION RATIO IS CONSIDERABLY GREATER (19:1) THAN THE COMPRESSION RATIO (13.5:1). THIS HAS AS RESULT EVEN HIGHER EFFICIENCY. WHILE THE COMPRESSION RATIO CAN BE INCREASED IN THE FUTURE EVEN MORE.
5. THE FUEL DISPERSION IS CONTINUOUS WITH THE FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES :
- THE TIME BEING LEFT FOR THE COMBUSTION CAN BE AS HIGH AS 290 ANGLE. THUS THE ENGINE CAN OPERATE IN HIGH SPEED WITHOUT PROBLEMS FROM THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A FUEL OF HIGH TIME DELAY FOR COMBUSTION.
- DUE TO THE VAPORISATION OF THE FUEL BEFORE THE COMBUSTION TOGETHER WITH THE FACT OF LAMBDA ALPHA 1,2 (USUALLY LAMBDA ALPHA = 1,4 OR HIGHER) LEADS TO LOW EMISSIONS (NO DROPLETS FOR COMBUSTION).
