TURBULENT COMBUSTION AND DIAGNOSTICS

Objective

WORK COORDINATED BY HARWELL COMBUSTION CENTRE IN THE FRAME OF THE CONTRACT EN3E008800

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE WORK PROPOSED IS TO SIGNIFICANTLY ADVANCE THE DETAILED UNDERSTANDING OF TURBULENT COMBUSTION. THE PROPOSAL IS DIVIDED INTO A NUMBER OF RELATED SUB-TOPICS. THE MARSEILLE LABORATORY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUB-TOPICS ENTITLED :

A) TEST OF FLAMELET ASSUMPTION IN TURBULENT COMBUSTION.
B) STRAINED FLAME LIBRARY.
C) CONTROL CARS MEASUREMENTS ON STANDARD LAMINAR BURNERS.

THE WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN THREE PHASES :

A) TO TEST THE FLAMELET MODEL OF TURBULENT COMBUSTION (DEVELOPED BY THE CAMBRIDGE LABORATORY) BY COMPARISON WITH EXPERIMENTAL DATA. THE DYNAMIC OF HIGHLY WRINKLED PREMIXED FLAMES AND PACKET FORMATION.
B) TO CREATE A DATA BASE OF STRAINED FLAME PROPERTIES THAT CAN BE USED AS INPUT DATA FOR THE FLAMELET MODEL OF TOPIC A)
C) TO CONTROL AND IMPROVE THE ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY OF CARS MEASUREMENTS OF TEMPERATURE AND MAJOR SPECIES CONCENTRATION IN DYNAMIC REACTIVE SYSTEMS. IN A FREE-FLAME PLANAR LAMINAR BURNER.
