Objective

THE OBJECTIVE IS THE PYROLYSIS AND OXIDATION AROMATICS AT HIGH TEMPERATURES ( > 1200 K). RESULTS WILL HELP TO UNDERSTAND ELEMENTARY STEPS OF COMBUSTION OF TECHNICAL FUELS AND TO PERMIT TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF POLLUTANT FORMATION PROCESSES RELEVANT TO MOTOR AND FURNACE INDUSTRIES.

SHOCK TUBE INVESTIGATIONS AT T > OR = 1200 K OF PYROLYSIS AND OXIDATION OF BENZENE, TOLUENE, XYLENE, PHENIL ACETYLENE.

METHOD: RESONANCE ABSORPTION OF H, O, OH, CO ALLOWS PRECISE DETERMINATION OF K(T). MAJOR REACTION PATHS ARE BEING DETERMINED IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER LABORATORIES (GOETTINGEN, HULL, LOUVAIN, ETC...)
