KINETICS AND MECHANISM OF ELEMENTARY PROCESSES OF IMPORTANCE IN COMBUSTION.

Objective

ALKYL RADICAL OXIDATION. STUDY OF THE REACTION KINETICS OF PEROXY RADICAL IN A GASEOUS FLAME, BETWEEN 300 AND 700 K

THE GOAL IS PRESENTLY TO STUDY SOME RADICAL-RADICAL REACTIONS AT TEMPERATURES UP TO 700 K BY FLASH PHOTOLYSIS AND UV ABSORPTION TECHNIQUES. THE ALKYLPEROXY RADICALS HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN COMBUSTION AND THE KINETICS OF THEIR REACTIONS HAS NOT YET BEEN STUDIED IN THIS TEMPERATURE RANGE. FROM THESE STUDIES WE WILL GAIN BETTER KNOWLEDGE OF:
- THE REACTION MECHANISMS WHICH CAN CHANGE DRAMATICALLY IN THIS TEMPERATURE RANGE AND
- THE ARRHENIUS PARAMETERS FOR USE IN COMPUTER MODELLING OF COMBUSTION PROCESSES.
