HIGH TEMPERATURE COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP USING NON AZEOTROPIC WORKING FLUIDS MIXTURE.

Objective

DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH TEMPERATURE (>100 CELSIUS DEGREES) WORKING FLUID FOR INDUSTRIAL HEAT PUMP AND PARTICULARLY NON AZEOTROPIC MIXTURES. DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH TEMPERATURE INDUSTRIAL HEAT PUMP USING THE TYPE OF WORKING FLUIDS. STUDY OF INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS.
The development of a high temperature heat pump for industrial applications (> 100 C) and the identification of working fluids were studied. 3 mixtures, water and alcohol, chlorofluorohydrocarbons, and chlorofluorohydrocarbons and paraffinic hydrocarbons were selected and characterised. A prototype (10 to 50 kW) was built and its thermal behaviour identified (heat loss and heat exchanger efficiency).

The classical technology and the new technology using a nonazeotropic mixture were compared economically. The reduction of pay back time as a function of the temperature variation of the process streams (T) was found to be between 30% and 40% for T = 30 and between 10% and 15% for T = 20.
THE PROJECT IS SUBDIVIDED IN 3 STEPS :

1. EXAMINATION AND SELECTION OF MIXTURES :
A) INVESTIGATION OF THERMAL STABILITY
B) STUDY OF THE THERMODYNAMIC OF THE MIXTURE; EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS
C) APPRAISAL OF THE BENEFITS RESULTING OF THE USE OF MIXTURES.

2. EXPERIMENTAL TESTS :
A) HEAT TRANSFER STUDY
B) EXPERIMENTATION OF AN EXPERIMENTAL 10 KW HEAT PUMP LOOP.

3. STUDY OF COMPRESSORS :
A) TECHNOLOGICAL ANALYSIS AND STUDY OF THE RANGE
B)PRE-PROJECT FOR A COMPRESSOR, ECONOMIC ESTIMATION.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
