Objective
THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT WILL HELP SAVE ON THE COST OF IMPORTED OIL THROUGH SUBSTITUTION BY A CHEAP READILY-AVAILABLE FUEL, NAMELY UNWASHED SMALL COAL. THE LOWER SIZE LIMIT WILL BE 25 KW.
IT IS PROPOSED TO CONTINUE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SMALL-SCALE FBC BOILER UP TO THE POINT OF COMMERCIALIZATION. AN EARLIER RESEARCH PROJECT HAS DEVELOPED MOST OF THE NECESSARY TECHNOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES. A PROTOTYPE BOILER WAS OPERATED FOR SHORT DURATION TESTS AND SHOWED PROMISING PERFORMANCE. IT IS NECESSARY TO BUILD A SECOND PROTOTYPE IN ORDER TO OPTIMIZE ON COMBUSTOR SIZE AND SHAPE, ON THE HEAT TRANSFER REGIME, TO CARRY OUT LONG TERM PERFORMANCE TESTS ON THE ACTUATORS, SENSORS AND THE CONTROL MECHANISM, TO TRANSCRIBE THE CONTROL CIRCUITRY FROM THE CONTROL COMPUTER USED IN THE DEVELOPMENT WORK TO DEDICATED MICROCIRCUITRY, TO CARRY OUT MATERIALS DURABILITY TESTS, AND TO CARRY OUT BOILER PERFORMANCE TESTS.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
