HANDLING, CONDITIONING AND VALORIZATION OF FLY ASH FROM POWDER COAL FURNACES AND OF DRY ASH FROM FLUIDIZED BED.

Objective

THE RESULTS OBTAINED WILL BE EXPLOITED AS FOLLOWS:

-THE PHYSICO-CHEMICAL KNOWLEDGE OBTAINED WILL ALLOW COMPARING THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ASH AND TO LEARN ABOUT THE EFFECT OF THE TYPE OF COAL AND FURNACE USED.IT WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE TO COMPARE THIS TYPE OF ASH WITH THE ASH PRODUCED BY CONVENTIONAL POWER STATIONS ON WHICH MORE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE.

-THE TESTS PERFORMED IN THE LABORATORY AND ON THE PREMISES OF COMPANIES WILL PROVIDE ACTUAL VALUES FROM WHICH IT WILL BE POSSIBLE VALIDATE THE MODELS. USERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW BEST TO CONDITION SUCH ASH TO AVOID THE RISKS INHERENT IN HANDLING AND STORAGE AND TO PROVIDE FOR ITS UTILIZATION.

THE PROJECT WILL SUGGEST PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED BY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS, CONSULTANTS AND COAL USERS FOR THE RECUPERATION AND CONDITIONING OF FLY ASH FROM FLUIDIZED BEDS AND POWDER COAL FURNACES WITH A VIEW TO A SPECIFIC UTILIZATION OR ORGANIZED COLLECTION FOR USE IN A GIVEN FIELD.
UNLIKE GRATE FURNACES IN WHICH THE SOLID RESIDUES OF COMBUSTION ARE ESSENTIALLY CLINKER WHICH IS EASY TO TRANSPORT AND TO UTILIZE,FLUIDIZED BED AND POWDER COAL FURNACES PRODUCE A GREAT DEAL OF FLUE ASH THE HANDLING,STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF WHICH PRESENTS PROBLEMS.
THE GEOGRAPHIC SPREAD OF SMALL POWER STATIONS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO CONSIDER USING THE ASH IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO THE WAY IT IS USED IN LARGE POWER STATIONS.THE QUALITY OF THE ASH MAY ALSO VARY,WHICH COMPLICATES THE PROBLEM.

IT IS THEREFORE NECESSARY TO BETTER KNOW THE ASH PROPERTIES ITS POSSIBLE USE IN INDUSTRY OR WITH A VIEW TO ITS DISPOSAL.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
