UPGRADING OF THE SOFTWARE FOR THE ENERGY SUPPLY MODEL EFOM 12 C FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE OMNI-CODE.

Objective

IN ITS PRESENT VERSION THE EFOM 12 C MODEL PERMITS THE PROJECTION OF CERTAIN TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL FUNCTIONS TO BE IMPLEMENTED AND TREATED IN THE CALCULATIONS. ACCORDING TO THE EXPERIENCE DURING THE LAST YEARS IT TURNED OUT THAT A CLOSER APPROACH TO REALITY WILL REQUIRE A BETTER RESOLUTION AND MORE VARIETY IN THE MATHEMATICAL DESCRIPTION OF THOSE PHENOMENA MAINLY IN THE FORMULATION FOR NEW INVESTMENTS AND IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SEASONALITY AND THE DAILY PROJECTION OF THE EXPECTED CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR IN THE ELECTRICITY AND GAS SECTORS.

THE REWRITING OF THE MODEL EFOM 12C MARK 2 IN THE OMNI LANGUAGE WILL ALLOW THE USE OF PRACTICALLY ALL FUNCTIONS AND PROJECTIONS WHICH ARE IN USE IN MODERN MODELLING TECHNIQUES AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.

USING THESE FEATURES WILL ENABLE THE POTENTIAL USER TO EXPRESS EASILY NEW RULES TO BE INCLUDED IN THE MODEL FOR SPECIFIC PROBLEMS. THESE FACILITIES WILL SHORTEN AND EASE CASE STUDIES TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE EFOM MODEL.

THE PRESENT EFOM 12 C MODEL IS IMPLEMENTED THROUGH A CHAIN OF FORTRAN PROGRAMS CONSISTING OF A DATA BASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, A MATRIX GENERATOR CONSTRUCTING THE OPTIMIZATION PROGRAM, A SIMULATION PROGRAM AND A REPORT WRITER. IN PREPARATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MARK 2 VERSION OF THE MODEL, THE REWRITING IN A MODELLING LANGUAGE OF THAT PART OF THE SYSTEM COMPRISING THE OPTIMIZATION CHAIN WAS UNDERTAKEN IN THE SECOND PROGRAMME. THE PRESENT PROPOSAL AIMS AT THE COMPLETION OF THAT GOAL.
