Objective
EXPERIENCE GAINED IN APPLICATION OF MEDEE 3 FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE COMMISSION'S LONG TERM ENERGY SCENARIO HAS SHOWN THAT THE EXISTING SYSTEM WAS SOMETIMES OVERDIMENSIONED FOR USER REQUIREMENTS ; THIS CAUSED DIFFICULTIES IN ANALYSING THE RESULTS, MADE IT A LENGHTY PROCESS TO MASTER THE DATA AND EQUATIONS, COMPLICATED THE PREPARATION OF INPUT HYPOTHESES ETC.
IT IS THEN MORE PRACTICAL TO DEVELOP FROM THE EEC'S MEDEE 3 MODEL :
-A MODULAR MODEL, DIRECTLY ADJUSTED TO THE EUROSTAT STATISTICS OF A SIMPLE AND FAST USE WITH AN EYE TO A FUTURE APPLICATION BY DG 17.
-AN INDUSTRIAL SUBMOTEL, AT A DESAGGREGATED LEVEL, SIMILAR TO THIS OF THE CENTRAL CORE OF MEDEE 3-ME AVAILABLE AT THE EEC, DIRECTLY SUITABLE TO THE NATIONAL STATISTICS OF THE 12 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.
THE FIRST PHASE WILL BE TO CONVERT THE MEDEE 3 MODEL INTO A SIMPLIFIED FORM BY AGGREGATING SECTORS AND CONTRACTING CERTAIN MECHANISMS. THIS SIMPLIFIED FORM COULD BE USED INDEPENDENTLY.
THE SECOND STAGE CONCERNS THE PREPARATION OF MODELS THAT COULD PROCESS SPECIFIC PROBLEMS IN DETAIL (TRANSPORTS)IN A RELEVANT FORM.
