MEDEE MODEL FOR DUTCH INDUSTRY.

Objective

THE STRUCTURE OF THE FIRST VERSION OF MEDEE-NETHERLANDS WAS BUILT ON A CONVENTIONAL MODULAR DESIGN OF MEDEE, MADE UP OF 3 MAIN COMPONENTS : THE URBAN SYSTEM, THE PRODUCTION SYSTEM AND THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM.

THE NEXT PHASE OF THE WORK AIMS AT DESIGNING A DETAILED LONG-TERM ENERGY DEMAND MODEL FOR THE STANDARD BRANCHES OF THE DUTCH INDUSTRY. IT WILL ALLOW THE MODEL TO BE MORE OPERATIONAL AND BETTER ADAPTED TO THE QUESTIONS ASKED BY THE DECISION MAKER.
Current traditional energy research oriented at annual longitudinal information, has already reached a reasonable level of sophistication. Provided that the quality of the input data, notably price expectations, can hardly be improved, a further sophistication of traditional forecasting will be extremely difficult. Moreover a possible improvement of the forecasts may have only a limited significance to public policy.
The present study had 2 goals;
an extension of the MEDEE model for the manufacturing industry;
software development for the MEDEE model.

-DESIGN A NEW LONG TERM MEDEE MODEL FOR ENERGY DEMAND IN THE DUTCH INDUSTRY, BASED ON A STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION IN THE NETHERLANDS.

-PROVIDE A COHERENT LONG-TERM PICTURE OF THE VARIOUS ENERGY DEMAND COMPONENTS (LIKE LOW AND HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT, ELECTRICITY ETC.) IN THE DUTCH INDUSTRY, BASED ON EVOLUTIONARY TECHNOLOGICAL-SECTORAL PATTERNS.

-USE A MODULAR AND FLEXIBLE STRUCTURE FOR THE MEDEE MODEL.

-IMPROVE THE EXISTING DATABASE, INTER ALIA BY CONFRONTING IT WITH ALTERNATIVE SOURCES.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
