COST EFFECTIVENESS ANALYSIS OF NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

Objective

THE TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT UNDER TASK I SHALL PROVIDE THE INSTRUMENT FOR BETTER EVALUATING THE KEY PARAMETERS OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES. IN THAT WAY MORE RATIONAL DECISION MAKING WILL BE POSSIBLE.

THE ASSESSMENT OF ABATEMENT TECHNOLOGIES UNDER TASK II PROVIDES A MEANS OF CHARACTERISING THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO THE REDUCTION OF NO2 AND SO2 IN THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE ASSOCIATED COST.

THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE CEC (DG XII) AND THE UNITED STATES (DOE) SHOULD EXTEND INTO 1987 TO COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION ON THE RESEARCH CARRIED OUT DURING 1986.

THE ACTVITIES OF THIS CONTRACT CAN BE SUBDIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING THREE MAIN TASKS :

1.THE DEVELOPMENT OF A METHODOLOGY FOR ASSESSING NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES.
2.PARTICIPATING IN THE IEA SYSTEMS ANALYSIS PROJECT WHICH WILL BE DIRECTED TOWARDS ANALYSING THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF ENERGY USES.
3.COMPLETING THE 1986 COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE CEC (DG XII) AND THE USA (DOE) INCLUDING SOME CONSULTANCY WORK.
