ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT - OPTIMAL CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR REDUCING EMISSIONS FROM ENERGY PRODUCTIONS AND ENERGY USE.

Objective

The emission reduction target of 30% of the 1980 level for the year 1993, as postulated by the Economic Commission, for Europe will be achieved several years earlier. Analysis of the 3 legal case results indicated that the greatest reduction in sulphur dioxide emission will take place in the power plant sector, which is regulated by the GFAVO. Emission reductions in these sectors are mainly attributable to flue gas desulphurisation plants in addition to a variety of fuel management measures. Sulphur dioxide emissions will remain essentially constant in the transportation sector. Slight decreases in sulphur dioxide emmission are predicted for the industrial sector. Sulphur dioxide emissions in the tertiary and domestic sectors showed a slight decrease over the time period due to increasing use of gas for space and water heating.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
