MAINTENANCE OF THE MEDEE-EUR MODEL.

Objective

THE PROPOSED RESEARCH WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE A SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT TO THE LONG-TERM ENERGY DEMAND MODEL MEDEE-EUR AND TO THE OUTPUTS OF THE MEDEE-EUR AND S MODELS.

THE COMMISSION'S FORECASTING MECHANISMS WILL THEREFORE BE MORE RELIABLE AND BETTER SUITED TO PROVIDE ANSWERS TO THE NUMEROUS QUESTIONS REGARDING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE INTERNAL MARKET ON ENERGY DEMAND.

WITH THE MEDEE MODEL ALSO PROVIDING THE DEMAND VECTORS FOR THE EFOM MODEL, THE QUALITY OF THE RESULTS OF THE MODEL WILL BE IMPROVED, IN PARTICULAR THE RESULTS OF THE LONG-TERM STUDY (2020).

LASTLY, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO CONCLUDE COST PROJECT 307 ON THE RATIONAL USE OF ENERGY IN TRANSPORT SINCE IEPE SPECIALISTS WILL BE TAKING PART IN THE PROJECT.

THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN TWO TASKS RELATING TO THE MEDEE-EUR MODEL:

- IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODEL FOR COUNTRIES AND SECTORS IN WHICH ITS FORMALIZATION AND THE DATA ARE INCOMPLETE;
- PARTICIPATION IN CASE STUDIES AND VALIDATION OF ENERGY RESULTS.

THE PROJECT WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY TECHNICAL WORK ON THE USER-FRIENDLINESS OF THE MODEL AND THE RESULTS WILL BE PRESENTED IN THE FORM OF TABLES AND GRAPHS.

THE RESEARCH WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN CLOSE COOPERATION WITH THE COMMISSION, WHICH WILL FINALLY HAVE TO ENTER THE RESEARCH FINDINGS AND USE THEM ON ITS COMPUTERS.
