Objective
IN THE MAIN INTENDED RESEARCH IS EXPECTED TO:
- PROVIDE THE COMMISSION WITH AN ANALYTICAL TOOL (ECONOMICS AND ENERGY) THAT WOULD BE OPERATIONAL FOR DENMARK AND GERMANY.
- TO CARRY OUT A LARGE NUMBER OF STUDIES USEFUL IN ANALYSING COMMUNITY POLICY
- TO SET UP AN INFORMATION EXCHANHE NETWORK ON A EUROPEAN SCALE.
THE HERMES MODEL, WHICH IS ALREADY WIDELY IN USE BY THE COMMISSION AND MEMBER STATES, WOULD THUS BE ENHANCED BY THE CONTRIBUTION OF THIS TYPE, THE AIM OF WHICH IS TO GIVE IT A TRUE EUROPEAN DIMENSION IN BOTH DATA PROCESSING AND SCIENTIFIC TERMS. IN ADDITION THE PROJECT WOULD ENABLE THE GAPS TO BE FILLED IN THE OVERALL HERMES SYSTEM.
THE PROPOSED RESEARCH CONSISTS OF TWO MAIN PARTS:
- A DATA PROCESSING PART COMPRISING MAINTENANCE OF THE DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM SUPPORTING THE HERMES MODEL, THE USE OF THE MICROTROLL SOFTWARE BY THE NATIONAL TEAMS, UPDATING OF THE VOLIMEX DATA AND PRELIMINARY INSTALLATION OF A DATA TRANSFER NETWORK.
- AN ECONOMETRIC PART CONSISTING OF COMPLETION OF THE GERMAN MODEL, EXAMINATION AND REPATRIATION OF THE DANISH, GREEK AND IRISH MODELS AND INVOLVEMENT IN THE CASE STUDIES CARRIED OUT BY THE COMMISSION, AND IN PARTICULAR THE ENERGY STUDIES.
