Objective
THE EFOM MODEL WAS DEVELOPED 10 YEARS AGO. DURING THAT TIME THE HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE TECHNIQUES HAVE EVOLVED. THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH IS MAINLY TO RENDER THE DATA BASE MANAGEMENT PART OF EFOM (DAMINT) MORE USER FRIENDLY. IN FACT MOST OF THE INFORMATION MUST BE ENTERED TO EFOM IN FORM OF FORMATTED FILES WHICH ARE DIFFICULT TO HANDLE ESPECIALLY FOR A "NON EXPERT" TO COMPUTERS.
THE AIM CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEVELOPMENT WORK ARE THE FOLLOWING :
* IMPROVEMENT OF THE MAN/MACHINE INTERFACE BY :
- MENU DRIVER CONTROL
- FULL SCREEN REPRESENTATION OF THE DATA
- STANDARDIZED WARNING AND ERROR MESSAGES
* ADDITION OF CONSISTENCY CHEKS :
- AT THE PARAMETER LEVEL
- AT THE LINK LEVEL
- AT THE SIDE LEVEL
* USER INTERFACE WITH THE DICTIONARY
SEVERAL YEARS OF PRACTICE WITH THE EFOM MODEL HAVE LED TO A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT THE USER REALLY NEEDS. IN THE MEANTIME, PROGRESS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO DEVELOP REALLY INTERACTIVE PROGRAMMES THAT REQUIRE MUCH LESS COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE FROM THE USER, SPEED UP THE CORRECTION OF ERRORS BY DETECTING THEM EARLIER AND GENERALLY SPEAKING, ASSIST THE USER IN THIS DATA DEFINITION TASK.
THE NEW DATA BASE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE (DAMINT) WILL BE WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY TO INSURE :
* PORTABILITY : THE MODIFICATION WILL LED TO WRITE ELEMENTARY ROUTINES EASY TO ADAPT TO A NEW COMPUTER ENVIRONMENT.
* MODULARITY : THE USE OF EFOM IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS WILL INVOLVE NEW NEEDS FOR NEW CAPABILITIES. THE IMPROVED DAMINT WILL BE WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY TO FACILITATE FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS OF THE PROGRAM, I.E. IT MUST BE VERY MODULAR.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
