Objective
The Mediterranean region is facing a rapid increase of energy consumption and related CO2 emissions due to its demographic growth and economic development. For that reason, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol should be implemented in this region. The objective of the CDMED proposal is to analyse a pilot CDM project (a large wind farm in Egypt) and to elaborate scenarios and strategies for the implementation of the CDM in the Mediterranean region. The scenarios at medium and long terms (2000 to 2030), elaborated with the E3 POLES Model, will assess the potential for CDM projects and will support the market for advanced energy technologies in the region and would thus contribute to the limitation of CO2 emissions
