Objective
Summary in this cooperative (CRAFT) research project a 100 kW permanent magnet generator is developed for stand-alone winds turbines and other applications. Permanent Magnet (PM) Generators for wind turbines have the advantage that they are reliable, have good performance especial at low rpm, easy to construct and low weight and size, compared to synchronic and a-synchronic generators with gear boxes. Permanent Magnet Generators are maintenance free and can be use without gearbox, by direct coupling the rotor blades to the generator. The Axial Flux Permanent Magnet (AFPM) Generators has the highest torque/volume relation of PM generators. Fortis has nearly 20 years experience in the production of PM generators with Radial Flux up to 10 kW rated capacity.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
