Objective
A 300 V Lithium-Ion battery system shows improved characteristics compared to alternative solutions based on lead-acid or Nikel Metal hydride batteries. Main advantages of Li-Ion technology will are on specific energy and power, low temperature behaviour (cold cranking), shelf life, reliability and system efficiency.
Such a technology fits the Hybrid System Architecture. Within this project it is planned to design a 300 V Li-Ion battery system, to test on bench, to install into a vehicle, to test the vehicle and to provide a complete cost assessment. Results can be used for other hybrid vehicle applications, and stand-alone utilisation.
