Spray/wall interaction processes related to a direct injection spark ignited (disi) engine (tophd)

Objective

The group of Thermo-fluid mechanics and Heat Transfer of the University of Bergamo in Dalmine (Italy) are looking for Ph.D. students of various scientific branches who need to complement their researches with experimental and numerical activities in the field of two-phase flows. Many years of experience with basic research and industrial applications offer to all the scientists a high-level of work in a strongly multidisciplinary environment. They will have the opportunity to exploit a part of their research using either devices or simulation codes that may be hard to find in their primary laboratories, with the help of a positive, encouraging, organised team. In our lab-we are offering a training in using non-intrusive techniques, such as PDA and LDA, to characterise two-phase flows, aerosol, sprays and spray/wall interactions. A general and modular spray test-rig is available and, after agreement, it is possible to deal special configurations for specific studies. We will help the candidates to obtain the maximum number of results during their stay, trying to understand which are the most important parameters to take into account, to help in understanding physics and defining models. A minimum stay of 8 months is requested.
