Computer aided reduction of seismic risk with application in existing cities, town planning and construction

Objective

The objective of the proposed project is to develop an integrated methodology tailored around a knowledge based software package that will support seismic risk mitigation decisions for a town (e.g. selective retrofitting of existing structures, monuments etc.) and for its future expansions (new construction: where and how), in order to optimize the planning process from a social and economic viewpoint. The innovation of the project will be in its extensive utilisation, development and integration of state-of-the-art information processing tools that will yield more reliable and easier to use loss estimates.
