Development of specific tools and technology for monitoring landslides

Objective

At present, long term predictions of the location and time of occurrence of landslides are far from being accurate. However, landslides are common enough and, as they are often related to manmade facilities and structures, their economical and environmental effects can easily reach catastrophic proportions. The general objective of this project is to develop a monitoring system for early warning of landslides, for use e.g. on sites of artificial lakes and of shallow mining, along railways, roads and dams. The system will be also intended to provide data for selecting the areas to be consolidated.
