Objective
EuroMET addresses the education and training needs of professional meteorologists and students in university education. The project is laying on novel distance courses for professionals and students in meteorology, and involves meteorological services and universities in 13 countries, as well as the European meteorological satellite organisation, EUMETSAT. The demonstration phase will draw on existing course content delivered via WWW and adaptable to local needs. Courses will exploit a variety of media and exceptionally powerful simulation of real-life weather phenomena. Initial validation will be at 40 sites in all participating countries.
