PAN EUROPEAN NETWORK OF ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION OBSERVATORIES FOR PLANNING, EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

Objective

PENELOPE is a telematics Knowledge Base System on environmental legislation accessible on-line through Internet and World-Wide-Web. An interactive multimedia title, in six languages, on the knowledge base will be developed. Using this, university students, researchers, engineers, NGOs and all users interested in European Environmental Legislation, will be guided on how and where they can access the PENELOPE Knowledge Base. The project will demonstrate the use of the web for teaching by developing six case studies where students will be confronted with a trans-European problem which they have to analyse using the different web servers. The analysis of the case and their proposal for a solution to the problem, for example, by proposing new European Legislation, will be made through reports to their teachers, who will comment on them and make the solution available on the web.
