URBAN AND NON-URBAN UV-MAGNIFICATION FACTORS

Objectif

ESTABLISH EXPERIMENTALLY THE UV-MAGNIFICATION FRACTION UNDER CONDITIONS OF LOW-LEVEL AIR POLLUTION.

THE RATIO OF THE PERCENTAGE CHANGE IN BIOLOGICALLY EFFECTIVE ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION WILL BE MEASURED UNDER DIFFERENT AIR-QUALITY AND ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS IN AND AROUND THESSALONIKI.

THE MEASUREMENTS WILL BE COMPARED WITH MODEL PREDICTIONS OF THE UV-TRANSMISSION THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE UNDER REALISTIC FIELD CONDITIONS SUPPLEMENTED BY RADIOSONDE-OZONESONDE OBSERVATIONS. ESTIMATE OF OPPOSITE EFFECTS INDUCED BY A COMBINATION OF STRATOSPHERIC OZONE DECREASE (OR INCREASE) AND TROPOSPHERIC AIR POLLUTION WILL BE MADE.
