Objective
THE RESEARCH WILL BE PERFORMED IN THE FOLLOWING FIVE AREAS :
1. SEISMOTECTONICS AND DATA COLLECTION (REGIONAL TECTONIC STRUCTURE AND PROCESS; FAULT RECOGNITION; LOCAL HISTORICAL AND INSTRUMENTAL RECORDS; DEPLOYING SEISMIC MONITORING NETWORK; DEPLOYING STRONG MOTION ACCELEROGRAPH NETWORK).
2. MICROZONATION STUDIES (GEOGRAPHYCAL INVESTIGATIONS; MICROTREMORS MEASUREMENTS; MICROEARTHQUAKE INVESTIGATIONS; GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS).
3. HAZARD ASSESSMENT SEISMIC SOURCE DELINEATION; EARTHQUAKE RECURRENCE MODELS; SELECTION OF ATTENUATION LAWS AND GROUND MOTION PARAMETERS; SELECTION OF SEISMIC HAZARD MODELS; COMPILATION OF SEISMIC HAZARD MAPS.
4. VULNERABILITY AND RISK ANALYSIS STUDIES SUCH STUDIES WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN THE HIGHLY POPULATED CITY OF VOLOS.
5. EARTHQUAKE PREDICTIONS : THE SEISMOTECTONIC DATA WHICH WILL BE COLLECTED DURING THE FIRST TWO YEARS WILL ALSO BE USED FOR EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION STUDIES (IDENTIFICATION OF SEISMIC IRREGULARITIES, SEISMIC PATTERNS, SEISMIC GRAPHS ETC.)

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
