GENETIC EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMICALS.

Objective

STUDY OF MOLECULAR INTERACTIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL MUTAGENS AND CARCINOGENS AT DNA LEVEL.
The continued study of mutant frequencies enlarges and reinforces the quality of our database, with a view to using it as a biomonitoring system. Validation of the system was achieved by testing groups of individuals known to have been exposed to genotoxic agents. This enabled the limits of the system to be determined and also gave information on the nature of the mutants recovered in this system.
THE PROJECT IS INTENDED TO EVALUATE THE POTENTIAL OF THE SYSTEM FOR DETECTING 6-THIOGUANINE RESISTANT MUTANTS AMONGST HUMAN CIRCULATING T LYMPHOCYTES TO ACT AS A POPULATION MONITOR FOR SOMATIC MUTATIONS.

VALIDATION TRIALS WILL BE UNDERTAKEN USING INDIVIDUALS KNOWN TO BE EXPOSED GENOTOXICANTS OR AGENTS WHICH PERTURBE THE HAEMOTOLOGICAL STATUS.

THE MUTANTS WHICH BECOME AVAILABLE IN THIS WAY WILL BE USED TO INVESTIGATE THE NATURE OF THE MUTATIONAL EVENT AND THE ORIGIN OF THE MUTANTS.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
