Objective
The purpose of this project is to develop and advanced system for forecasting volcanic eruptions and assessment of volcanic hazards based on the integration of monitoring information, models of volcano dynamics and geostatisical methods. MULTIMO will measure key properties of magmas that control eruption dynamics, develop advanced models of magma flows from magma chambers to the surface and link these models to the major observable of earthquakes, ground deformation, gas fluxes and extrusion rates and eruptive styles. Geostatistical methods will be applied to analyse time series of integrated data and compared with the predictions of dynamical models to improve the reliability of forecasts.
