Objective
The quantity of water required for irrigation of recreational turf grass is a major factor limiting the quality and location of sports turf throughout Europe. Omega sciences, a marketing division of Service Chemicals plc has developed an innovative water conservation treatment which has been successful in basic laboratory and field tests in the UK. The aim of this proposal is to determine the potential of the product within the European Community and to develop the necessary research and business infrastructure to bring the product to market. The RTD objectives are :. Characterization of physical and chemical properties of the water conservation treatment. Characterization of the biological modes of action of the product.
Characterization of water requirements of turf grasses with or without the product.
Characterization of disease incidence in turf grasses with or without the product.
Characterization of nutrient requirements of turf grasses with or without the product.
