Objective
In the field of municipal wastewater treatment, many different processes have been developed, but the usual treatment processes are based on an aerobic activated sludge process. The major drawback of such a system is the high energy demand for aeration, large space requirements and high sludge generation. Hence, operation of these systems is expensive and no substantial 'return on investment' ohm any added-value product is generated. The objective of this project is to combine anaerobic treatment with membrane bioreactor technology into an innovative system for the efficient and economic production of biogas from sewage in small and medium-scaled process units. To maximise the late time of the membranes by continuous and carefully cleaning without any additional detergent a supersonic based technology shall be developed and integrated into the reactor design.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
