Objective
The long-term objective of EcoFlood is to stimulate creation of floodplains that both protect the environment against floods and provide opportunities for restoration and development of highly valuable ecosystems. This requires an integrated vision. However, there is a knowledge gap between research fields, and scientific output is not appropriate for stakeholders. EcoFlood contributes to the long-term objective by elaborating a manual, being the main deliverable of a scientific conference, a stakeholder workshop and a think tank meeting.
It will consist of:
1) Scientific knowledge on wet and terrestrial floodplain ecosystems (hydrology, geochemistry, ecology and socio-economy);
2) Practical problems that obstruct stakeholders in creating natural flood defences;
3) Identify scientific gaps and insecurities.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
