Integrated soil and water protection

Objective

The following work elements are part of NIM - A literature study providing an overview of the state of knowledge concerning visions of nature in Europe. This study will include an overview of international research results and benchmark studies and national studies in the UK, Austria, Romania, and Spain, the Netherlands. It will also generate an overview of available methodologies and theoretical concepts and assess their suitability. - An exploratory study in the extent to which the concept of difference in visions of nature is taken into account in policy, both at the national and international level.
This study will focus on all phases of the policy cycle and will be based on analysis of relevant policy documents as well as interviews with policy makers at the international level and in the participating countries.
- Organizing an expert meeting to discuss the results of the study, identify gaps in knowledge, promote discussing between and among researchers and policymakers
- Develop a Pan-European Research programme which will focus on identified gaps and research needs of policy makers and will make recommendations concerning the most suitable methodology for international comparative research.
- Developing a number of publications aimed at priority target groups, these will include a handbook containing the research results as well as publications in hard-copy and electronic media.
