Objective
The Marie Curie Fellows will add know how in atmospheric chemistry and measurement of trace gases, analysis of turbulence data with new methodology and understanding of transport processes over complex heterogeneous rough surfaces. Major benefits are:
(i) the development and application of a footprint mode,
(ii) the existing capability to continuously monitor water and carbon fluxes between vegetation and the atmosphere will be enlarged to other species like N, VOC and Ozone, and
(iii) the validation of the footprint model by atmospheric tracers.
This will multiply the value of the existing flux measurements over forests; allow a better judgement of observed carbon sinks and their relevance to the European Union. It will transfer technology in the extremely relevant field of trace gas flux monitoring and enlarged the hosting institution's competence in land surface processes, its ability to attract national funding and to train environmental scientists in the important area of trace gases and climatic forcing.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
