Assimilation of envisat data

Objective

ASSET is a major European initiative to exploit and develop EO data using data assimilation to: (a) develop a European capability for chemical/UV forecasting, and (b) provide analyses for climate/chemistry studies. It will provide a network for the long-term exploitation of EO data within the European Research Area concept. ASSET will add value to Envisat data by assimilation into NWP systems and photochemical models. Strategies for the assimilation of Envisat data into NWP systems will be assessed. Assimilation of Envisat photochemical data will be used to study the distribution/variability of key species such as ozone. ASSET brings together experts from all aspects of the assimilation problem: NWP, chemical assimilation, modelling, meteorology, retrieval and assimilation theory, and observations. ASSET builds on the Envisat effort. Beneficiaries include NWP agencies, ESA, climate researchers, government, industry, and the public.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
