Ferrybox - from on-line oceanographic measurements to environmental information

Objective

European (Mediterranean to Baltic) environmental variability of key eco-system parameters will be more closely monitored than previously possible using instruments on ferryboats (Ferry-Boxes). 11 partners will work on 8 routes. SMEs, scientific, operational and policy-oriented institutions are involved. Uniform quality controls and assembly of data and meta-data will be developed. Scientific analysis will concentrate on water quality - eutrophication, transport of sediment and contaminants. European wide assessment of variability will set a baseline for judging future and past ecosystem changes. Improvement of operational models by assimilation of high-resolution temporal and spatial data is a major goal. It will be a substantial cost-effective contribution to EuroGOOSaims. It will deliver recommendations for future operational monitoring and modelling. Developed hard and software will marketable by the European industry.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal
