Objective
REACTION aims at synthesise the more recent advances in the research on land restoration to mitigate desertification, together with the traditional knowledge on reforestation, and made it available to the National and Regional Action Plans to Combat Desertification in the Annex IV countries of the EU. The proposal will collect detailed information about successful restoration projects in the European Mediterranean countries using homogenised protocols.
The projects will be evaluated through a consultation process with the participation of experts and stakeholders. Evaluated projects will be introduced in a database, available to the general public through internet. A handbook on 'Guidelines for designing restoration projects' will be produced and the general outputs disseminated at the local, national and international level. The activities of the AM will be structured through series of thematic workshops with the participation of all interested partners and relevant organisations.
