Advanced mapping with sonar and video

Objective

Marine scientists need more affordable, better coverage & faster access remote survey & data processing systems for monitoring & enforcement of sustainable ecosystem policies. AMASON will support this by implementing an inexpensive, modular, reconfigurable sonar & video sensor system, with advanced data processing readily deployable from ROV's, AUV's & tow fish of opportunity. Automatic object ®ion classification & 3D shape reconstruction will be carried out by fusion of concurrent data sets from video & sides can, sub-bottom & multibeam bathymetricsonars. Carefully designed modular systems architecture will ensure a scaleable& reconfigurable system. Scientific validation on trawling impacts, sediment stability & coral carbonate mounds will be undertaken. The research aims to substantially reduce survey sensor capital/operational costs, and labour in data analysis while increasing result quality, access and coverage.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.
