Objective
The project intends to contribute to the selection of suitable products for sea-salts which to accumulate in the building materials also acting for very long periods. The products should isolate sea-salts trapped in the pores and prevent the further penetration, in relation to the environmental conditions in which the European historic buildings may be exposed to sea-salts (sea flooding, rising damp and marine spray). Laboratory and in site experiments is foreseen, before and after the treatment, including magnetic resonance, the dynamic simulator and Integrated Computerized Analysis to verify their effectiveness in time. The methodology of application as well as the products will be selected on the basis of the sources of the sea-salts. Finally, the work plan foresees the dissemination both of the results of the performance of the products and to safeguard the historic buildings.
