Development of a methodological tool to enhance the precision & comparability of solid waste analysis data (S.W.A. - TOOL)

Objective

Waste analyses are a widely used tool for acquiring relevant information for waste management planning, and for increasing the efficiency & effectiveness of planned measures. Despite relevant efforts, waste analyses have not been satisfactorily standardized to date. This leads to deficient data quality, resulting in planning errors as well as difficulties in comparing the effect of different waste management measures. In the RESEARCH PART, a consortium with nine participants from different European regions will develop a methodological tool for waste analyses, with a view to improving the accuracy & comparability of analysis data. Extensive dissemination is to help promote use of the tool and contribute to the standardization of waste management data. In the DEMONSTRATION PART, the tool will be tested in practice on a number of occasions and modified on the basis of this information. The analyses will serve as reference projects for the dissemination.
