Compatibility of plasters and renders with salt loaded substrates in historic buildings

Objective

Ultimate aim of the project is to develop a decision model for choice and application of renderings, compatible with salt and moisture loaded substrates, salt resistant, durable and re-treatable. A model of salt decay mechanisms will be developed to describe, predict and prevent damage, selecting the most suitable characteristics of rendering in relation to substrate. Requirements for salt resistant renderings will be defined, on the basis of material properties, salt concentrations and moisture content. Guidelines (expert system), will support end users in the choice of suitable renderings for each specific case, taking into account materials, damage mechanisms, possible repair measures, environmental and climatic circumstances. Recommendations to test performance will be produced.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
