Objective

The Joint European Ocean Drilling Initiative (JEODI) aims to bring a distinctive European component to a new era of scientific ocean drilling due to commence in Autumn 2003. This TN brings together all the major member states involved in scientific ocean drilling. The TN-plan will emphasise. European experience and skill of using and operating "alternative platform" drilling technologies to improve the programme's shallow-water drilling capabilities. Arctic Science, with drilling of the almost wholly unexplored Arctic Ocean. Provision of shore based laboratories and other facilities to handle, process, and curate and store core derived from these drilling activities. Creation of a management structure and, an outreach programme for the new era of the Integrated Ocean drilling programme in Europe.
