Objective
Background :
There is a need for practical implementation of Helsinki resolution no. 1 and 2. ('General Guidelines for the sustainable Management of Forests in Europe' and 'General Guidelines for the Conservation of Biodiversity of European Forests').
The objectives are :
Development of silvicultural prescriptions for biodiversity, gene-conservation,
sustainability and environment friendliness in practical forest management.
Short description of the project :
The project will develop forest regeneration systems to achieve realistic targets both for production and biodiversity for stands of native tree species. It includes the development of regional models of species composition. The development of practical silviculture prescriptions will use experimental manipulations of plots in traditionally managed old stands
