Objective
Background :
"Timber Certification" may help avoiding misguided consumers to turn away from
European wood. It might also help to create added value and to promote sustainable forest management. It is important for the Community that Timber Certification is not implemented in a way that distorts the market by unjustified claims from different suppliers.
The objective is : the evaluation of the demand for, the realism of and the potential impact of "Timber Certification".
Short description of the project :
The project will evaluate the demand for and the potential impact of "Timber Certification". The project will, inter alia, investigate consumer's willingness to pay and the forestry-wood chain attitudes to costs, criteria and organisational aspects.
A close cooperation with DG VI F.II.2 is foreseen during the project.
